Intimacy Director
“Ju” (樹)means tree. From robust roots to the very tip of each branch, it means to absorb, grow, and stand boldly.
“ri” (里)means home. It means to return, give back, and embrace wholeheartedly.
Hello! I am a bilingual Intimacy Director and Coordinator based in Tokyo. As a bicultural who grew up in Japan and the US, I also work as a Dramaturg providing historical research, cultural insight, and translation for shows, including AMC’s The Terror and the upcoming musical OKUNI by Naomi Iizuka and Paul Hodge.
While exploring the world of devising, dramaturgy, and drama, I found my passion and mission in the work of intimacy direction. In Summer 2023, I successfully passed the Level 3 certification program with Intimacy Directors and Coordinators in NYC.
I am currently searching for ways to expand this community of consent-forward artists within my home country and beyond as the first person to be certified in Japan for live performance. My goal is to help tell stories in a way that is human-first and fun! If you are looking for an intimacy professional for your project, need help with translation or cultural insight, or just want to chat, please don't hesitate to contact me. I work internationally.
I'm looking forward to connecting with you!
